Private visit to an authentic Kaga Yuzen workshop. Kanamarusenko boasts 100 years old history, and is now taken care of by the 3rd generation. The Kanamaru Dyeing fabric is located just by the Asano river, just like many other dyeing fabrics as flowing water is indissociable from the process. It is also conveniently located near the Higashi Chaya district, where Geisha culture was thrieving and had a strong influence on fashion. Nowadays, as the demand for silk kimono has shrunk, these craftsmen are now facing new challenges, which craftspeople like those at Kanamaru are facing in order to keep such tradition survive.
