Wajima is one of the most wellknown cities in Noto peninsula because of the worldly known Wajima Lacquer crafts, UNESCO World Heritage site, Shiroyone Senmaida, and the traditional Ama divers to name a few. 

This tour is for the visitors like you who want to experience them all in an authentic way.  

You will have an artistic experience with a Wajima craftsman at the private workshop, talk with Ama divers on a private tour, and learn the diversity of local foods from a Michelin chef! You will also have a private guide to understand the history and many unique traditions of Wajima.

 Ama Diver Private Tour

This is a 2-part tour in Wajima to meet traditional Ama divers. You will talk with the divers and tour the port, then watch them dive from a boat the next morning. Depending on the season, you may also receive fresh shellfish, like abalone, or seaweed.

Chinkin “Sunken Gold” Experience

Visit the workshop at the home of a Wajima lacquerware craftsman, and learn how he uses a blade to carve patterns into the lacquer surface and inlays gold powder.

Guided Tour at Wajima Lacquer Museum

Learn the history of Wajima Lacquer and understand the process of creating this traditional craft.

 

Chinkin “Sunken Gold” Experience

Decorate Wajima Lacquer plate with gold. The local artisan will teach you step by step!
