The Wajima morning market is one of the 3 biggest morning market in Japan. Its deep history traces back from bartering times where people would exchange products from the sea and those from the land. It kept on developing as Noto was a thrieving place with trading vessels buying and selling goods. Today the market is lined with many stalls selling not only fresh seafood and vegetables, but also a unique range of homemade food products, local craft items and other souvenirs.

To fully enjoy this market, our local guide will assist you in interacting with stall owners, and introduce you to local customs and sometimes strange products found here. The second part of this guided tour will bring you out from the market and get to discover some more of the rich Wajima culture. This town is home to the second biggest community of Ama “Japanese mermaids”, and is an interesting area to explore. From there, step into the next quarter for a very different atmosphere again: the lacquerware houses quarter. Get a visit of one of these authentic workshop and witness the splendor of Wajima lacquerware and its centuries old production techniques.

Explore strolls at morning market with a local guide. Some of the products on display at the morning market are caught by ama divers, and you can learn about the lives of ama divers interacting with the lively ladies taking care of the stalls, and allow you to buy your favorite products. With a BBQ corner available, you will grill directly the seafood you purchased on the spot.
